The motion was submitted under Rule 110 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the National Assembly, 2007. According to the adjournment motion, "We the undersigned request that the proceedings of the House be adjourned to discuss the urgent and serious matter of Trump's recent derogatory remarks about Pakistan which seem to be an intentional attempt to malign and degrade Pakistan by portraying us as supporters of terrorism rather than appreciating our dedicated efforts to ensure peace in the region.
"This propaganda campaign by the US President is a clear attempt to divert world's attention from its foreign policy failures in South Asia, particularly Afghanistan and Middle East. Also the paltry amount paid to Pakistan by the US in no way matches with the immeasurable sacrifices of Pakistanis for the last decade or so." The motion further said that Pakistan is a sovereign state and it is well-aware and well-equipped to protect its interest which is none other than maintaining peace and termination of all forms of terrorism.
"Therefore, we strongly believe that the US should refrain from pointing fingers at us rather adopt a joint mechanism to eliminate terrorism from the region. We believe that it is very serious matter which calls for immediate discussion on the floor of the House," the adjournment motion added.
